Savory Greek Yogurt Bowl

One Spring day when I was still living in Manhattan, I stumbled into the Chobani Cafe. It’s a little shop in SoHo where you can eat their creations made with their signature Greek yogurt products. If you know me, I am much more of a savory person over sweet. I saw that they had a small section on their menu for savory Greek yogurt bowls. I know this sounds odd since most people enjoy their yogurt with fruit, honey and granola toppings…but I wanted to try it! It was a mixture of plain Greek yogurt, avocado, mango, jalapeno, lime juice, extra virgin olive oil and served with blue corn tortilla chips. I enjoyed it so much, that I create different variations of it at home depending on what ingredients I have on hand!

Here’s what I typically add to my Greek yogurt bowl:

  • one container of plain Greek yogurt (typically low flat, unflavored)

  • half of a medium avocado, diced

  • purple onion, minced (I like that this gives it some color)

  • cucumber, diced

  • cilantro, hand torn

  • drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

  • diced mango or peaches, depending on what is in season (more pops of color!)

  • sea salt and pepper to garnish

I like having this in the morning when I need to front load my fat intake. The approximate macro breakdown for this bowl is:

  • protein: 19g

  • carbs: 20g

  • fat: 17g

Hope you recreate and enjoy! Tag me on Instagram @fitbyslam when you do!
